Simple, loose crown bonnets of varying styles were common during the Regency. The array of fabrics, colors, and decor were truly endless. Visit my Pinterest for numerous boards containing fashion plates and extant examples from the period to see what I mean: www.pinterest.com/sharonlathan62
For this bonnet I used a white straw sun-visor. The puffy crown of navy blue satin is gathered along the brim and encircled with a white and blue-dotted grosgrain ribbon The same ribbon is used for the under-chin ties. The bonnet is trimmed with blue velvet lace and a cute floral button on the right side.
The brim is 4” at its widest point in front. The crown measures 22” circumference but is soft and pliable for those with a slightly larger head size.
