This hat is based on a Regency style seen in riding hats and capotes, for example. The narrow brim is slightly upturned along the sides and equal all the way around. Additionally, there are no chin ties, making this style a true “hat” as opposed to a “bonnet.”
The base is a firm felt hat, a “bowler” design, in a rich hunter green. I covered the outside in a layer of deep green satin and sheer gauze. The gauze fabric around the crown is gathered and ruched. The top of the crown and the brim edge are trimmed in a metallic braid.
The back of the hat is adorned with big and tiny yellow flowers, green leaves, and a lovely butterfly (moth?) pin. So cute!
The inside of the crown is lined with gathered, green silky fabric. The opening measures 22” but has give for larger head sizes.
